Ok, new poll  !   Somebody set this up for me, eh ?  I'm 'puter illiterate !

Best USA motorcycle racing venue based on personal experience and/or what you've seen on tv :

Auto Club Speedway
Barber Motorsports Park
Indianapolis Raceway Park
Infineon Raceway
Laguna Seca
Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Mid America
Mid Ohio
Miller Motorsports Park
Road America
Road Atlanta
Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch
Willow Springs

Anyone have additional venues, ask to have them added to the poll...  that is, if one of you mods will assist in setting this up !!!

Randy, Olive, Troy, Skuuter ?  (who'd I miss?)

Ok Wheatie, your poll is up. Let me know if I missed out on anything.  People can pick up to three venues.

Ok, this is a tough one for me.  I have been to several of these for car races and have some opinions about the tracks.  I have ridden a few of them too and have some opinions about that too.  If you are there to watch then I have another set of opinions.  Examples, Barber is an awesome facility and great fun to ride, but if you want to take any pictures, forget it.  Road America is a great facility in a beautiful setting, but you can only see small section of the 4 1/2 mile track from any one place.

I guess I am curious what you are trying to find out with this poll.  Road Atlanta is still one of my favorite tracks, but the facilities aren't nearly as nice as Barber.  Mid-Ohio is another great track and has lots of great places to watch the race.  Auto Club Speedway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway both suck for watching a race on the road courses.  Indianapolis Raceway Park (now O'Reilly Raceway Park) is a 2/3 mile oval that is a great place to watch sprint cars.  Between races you can watch the ameteurs on the drag strip.

Good points all, Steve !   Obviously, I didn't put enough thought into my explanation.  If I've added "on tv", that should have been supplemented with "in person" .. in the "viewing" sense.  That being said, it's going to, and has created confusion.....  It wouldn't be much of a poll if the only option was on-track experience unless this was a racer's forum.  Therefore, I'd suggest we stick with both hands-on and viewing experience and try to combine the two for an overall effect on one's senses.

There are a number of venues on the list that I've never been to, but have seen on tv, whether or not it was bikes or cars.  I've ridden one of them (spectator lap only).  The other two I've seen on tv (or GoPro) and they left a lasting impression.  This is not to say the others are of any more or less quality, both visually in on-track.

Bottom line, combine your feelings, then vote !....

Hope this helps clarify .....    occasion14

Olive, I left out probably the most historic and visually exciting venue of all.  Please add Isle Of Man ! ! ! !    And I've already voted !!!

Just what I was thinking, does that mean Phillip Island is an option?
For US i'm going Miller, Laguna Seca and Barber but theres one coming on board in Housten in a year or 2, should be very good.
And what about Fernley in Reno?  laughing7

I like a lot of different tracks for a lot of different reasons, but you still can't beat watching bikes (or cars) come through the esses at Road Atlanta from spectator hill.  It is just such an amazing stretch of track and you can see so much of it.  The corkscrew at Laguna Seca is epic, but it is over so quickly.  Barber is a riders track.  Mid-Ohio and Road America are just great all-round tracks.  I haven't been to Miller or VIR.  Miller looks awfully flat, but VIR looks very cool.

I was in San Francisco for the weekend to see my oldest son and didn't realize until Sturday that the AMA race was at Infineon.  Otherwise I would have had another track under my belt.

Yep, Road Atlanta is a very "Spectator Friendly" Track for a Road Course......Spectator Viewing is the Main Reason for Oval Track Popularity in the USA... headbang

That is a good point skuut!  To your point, road course get the short end because street courses are better for corporate sponsorship.  It is much easier to get clients to a box in the city than 50 miles out of town.

Maybe the US should invade the Irish Sea and claim the Isle of Man!  No wait, then the lawyers would ruin the race...

Don't care who "owns" that special piece of land.  NOTHING will ever top IOM.  Double BLAST !  Should have included certain other parts of the world as well.....   if that were the case, IOM would win this thing hands down in this house  ! !     notworthy
